Schilling elects to sell famous bloody sock
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) ? Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling ? whose video game company underwent a spectacular collapse into bankruptcy last year ? is selling the blood-stained sock he wore during the 2004 World Series.

The sock previously had been on loan to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. It has been at Heritage's Dallas headquarters for several weeks and will be displayed at the auction house's Manhattan office before it is sold, according to Ivy.
He said the sock is expected to fetch at least $100,000, though he described that as a conservative estimate.
O's sign Showalter, Duquette to extensions
BALTIMORE (AP) ? Buck Showalter was tired of hearing about his contract. Ever since the end of the most successful season in 14 years, the Baltimore Orioles manager was pestered about the contract.
Showalter would tell everyone that he had a deal for the 2013 season, and he had more job security than most American workers. He wasn't worried.
Now, Showalter has more job security than almost any American worker including almost all his players, and so does the Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette.
On Wednesday, the Orioles announced extensions for both. Showalter's is a five-year extension; Duquette's a four-year one. They'll be under contract through the 2018 season with the Orioles.
Source: Cardinals hire Arians as head coach
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) ? A person with knowledge of the situation says the Arizona Cardinals have filled the NFL's final head coaching vacancy by hiring Indianapolis offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because there has been no official announcement.
The 60-year-old longtime assistant went 9-3 as Colts interim head coach while Chuck Pagono was undergoing treatment for leukemia last season.
Arians arrived in Arizona on Wednesday night, had dinner with top team officials, then interviewed on Thursday and met with reporters to indicate his extreme interest in the job. He was offered and accepted the job Thursday night. Arians also was a finalist for the Chicago job that went to Marc Trestman.

He joins general manager Dave Caldwell, who led the coaching search after being hired last week.
Bradley spent the last four seasons in Seattle, where his defense improved each of the last three years and finished in the top 10 in points and yards the last two. This season, the Seahawks ranked first in the NFL in points allowed (15.3), fourth in yards (306.2) and tied for fourth in takeaways (31).
The Jaguars were 30th in the league in total defense in 2012.

Goodell initially suspended Vilma for all of the 2012 season, and three other players received shorter bans. But Paul Tagliabue, Goodell's predecessor as commissioner, heard a final round of player appeals and threw out the suspensions last month.
